The Euphoria of Being in
Love.
The euphoria of the "in love"
experience gives us the illusion that we have an intimate relationship. We
feel that we belong to each other. We believe we can conquer all
problems. We see ourselves as the worlds greatest lovers. Then why
do so many marriages fail? Because this sense of intimacy is an illusion
and this obsessive state is temporary. Once we come down off the high we
go back to being our natural ego-centric selves.
Haven't you heard people ask, Why didn't I
see this before we got married? Why? Because you were blinded by the
obsessive nature of the "in love" experience. They say,
"love is blind". But I remind you that this blindness is
temporary. In the broad daylight of marriage, you will see each others
flaws.
God specializes in loving sinners. You are
one and you are married to one. Jesus said: "As I have loved you, so
you are to love one another." Learning to love your spouse, with his/her
imperfections, is one of the most godly things you will ever do.
