Dr. Gary Chapman

Communication With God Means Spiritual Growth.

Your relationship with God will grow only if you learn to communicate with Him. Remember, communication is a two-way process. Not only do we talk to God, but God talks to us. Many people are familiar with prayer, whereby we talk to God, but few people hear the voice of God. I am not suggesting that God speaks in an audible voice, though He can. But through the bible God speaks in a very personal way to those who will take the time to listen.

Let me suggest a daily conversation with God. Sit down with an open Bible and say to God: "Father, I am going to read this chapter. If there is anything you want to say to me, I'm listening." Then read the chapter and underline anything that seems to be important to you. Then go back and talk to God about what you marked. Ask Him questions, give Him thanks, express your gratitude, or ask Him to make that truth real in your life. Start with the book of Philippians.

A daily conversation with God will enhance your relationship, and bring you peace in the midst of pain.
