Communication is the Path
to Building Intimacy.
The English word for intimacy comes from the Latin
word intimus, meaning inner. Thus, intimacy involves two people opening
their inner selves to each other. It is entering into each other lives
emotionally, intellectually, socially, physically, and spiritually. It is
connecting at the deepest possible level in every area of life.
Intimacy is fostered by a sense of love and trust.
We believe that the other person has our best interests in mind; thus, we
can open ourselves up without fear that what we are telling will be used
against us.
Open communication is the pathway to building
intimacy. There is no way to have an intimate marriage without
communication. When do you communicate with your spouse? If you do not
have a daily sharing time, chances are, your intimacy is eroding. Ten
minutes a day is better than one long conversation once a month. Why not
