Reconciliation Does Not Mean We Hide Our Emotions

Choosing to seek reconciliation does not mean that we hide our emotions. Listen to a wife who suspects that her husband is having an affair. "I feel very angry and hurt when I think that you are seeing someone else. My friends say that they have seen you with someone, but you say that is not true. I'm confused. I want to believe you, but based upon the past, I have a hard time believing.

At any rate, you know how strongly I feel about that. We can never get back together while you are having an affair. You will have to make that decision. In the meantime, I do not want to be controlled by my anger.

I will try to treat you with dignity and respect. I care about you very much. With God's help, I will not spend my time attacking you." This wife is choosing the high road of: honesty about her feelings and beliefs, while also expressing a loving attitude toward her husband. She is following the Biblical ideal.
